The singer songwriter Greta Baker follows up her single release from 2018 and unwraps her first album. Warm Hearted Women is music from a powerful and distinctive voice – hitting you right in the soul.
Warm Hearted Woman is vintage soul. The album has already received glowing praise and is getting radio air play in several countries. The sound is raw and warm, harmonious and intimate.
Baker has composed the music and written the lyrics for most of the ten tracks on the new album.
- We present our lives as something fantastic. But I don’t want to scratch the surface. I want to go deeper than that. We do the most of what we have, and turn negative to positive where we can, Greta Baker says. She struggles – and has struggled for a long time – herself with chronic illness. Releasing this album has been a fight.
- There has been a lot of pain, and I have asked: Why me? But I am a survivor and I want to inspire other people, Baker says.
Greta Baker has performed for years, singing solo, as well as performing with the bands Midnight Ramblers and Empty Gascan Band, and with Reidar Larsen and Didrik Soli Tangen. This album is recorded with Inge Engelsvold and Stéphane Detrez as producers, in the studio of Engelsvold.
- Greta has one of the biggest voices that I know of. The album was born in agony. Still, her voice was always there, and it carries a story that comes through on Warm Hearted Women. I will always listen to these songs in a different way than other songs that I have produced, Détrez says.
